Brief professional biography: |
I worked in the Medical Physics Department of Bradford Royal Infirmary as a medical physicist for thirty years. My initial experience was principally in the field of Nuclear Medicine, although I also gained experience in Radiation Protection, Ultrasonics and in Clinical Measurement (particularly pressure measurement). |
The last ten years of my NHS career also saw the growth of developments and responsibilities in other nonionising radiations. This included the monitoring of ultraviolet phototherapy units and the provision of a phototesting service. |
Since 1998 I have been an assessor on the Radiation Protection Adviser Assessment Panel for the formal certification process that was initially voluntary but is now required by the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999. |
I have also acted as a Locum Specialist Adviser to the Healthcare Commission for Ionising Radiations & Lasers/IPLs. |
